There were a number of interesting things to see and do including a Gears of War: Judgment tournament, cosplay, a couple’s doubles tournament, an anime trading station and some PC gear on display by EMA Technologies. Also in the house was Many Meredith from Nintendo South Africa, KomboKitten and Yamaki from Cosplay South Africa and Stephen Smit, one of the organisers of the Cape Town version of Geek Pride Day.

One of the biggest attractions of the evening however, was the start of the Mad Catz 2up Cup in which the ladders will be operated by MWEB GameZone. If you haven’t heard about it, MWEB, Mad Catz and 2up are bringing PS3 and Xbox 360 FIFA 13 players together for an opportunity to play their opponents both locally and online.

Prizes for the ladders have also been announced and the prize pool is currently R2800 per ladder. The prizes are as follows:

Sasman confirms that the glasses live up to their promises and his expectations. Not only do they protect your eyes from the strains of using a computer all day and gaming in front of a large screen for many hours at a time, but they also enhance the user’s visual experience.

So for all the benefits to one’s health and the boost to one’s gaming performance, he comments that while the price is fairly high, it’s justified and worth every penny.

“If I had to make an attempt at describing the sensation of what Gunnar Optiks feels like, I’d have to say that it’s like that feeling when you rest your head on a soft pillow and in a comfortable bed, but for your eyes.”
